Skin is the largest organ of the body and protects the body from bacteria, chemical and temperature. Whether the complexion is dark or fair, a glowing skin is considered as one of the visible signs of good health and vitality, and therefore all women yearn for a radiant, acne free, supple skin.

Getting a glowing, soft skin seems to be a distant dream for many. Harsh weather conditions, stress, lack of adequate sleep and skin care are some of the common reasons that make skin dull, flaky, and rough. But do you know that your kitchen is a treasure house of ingredients that bring back that childlike glow and softness in your skin.

Here we present before you some of the evidence- based home remedies that can improve the quality of your skin and make it beautiful, healthy, picture perfect.

Apply a Turmeric Paste

Turmeric is a popular antioxidant that includes curcumin as inflammatory agent to reduce swelling and bring luster to your skin.

How to use:

Mix a half teaspoon of turmeric powder with half a cup of gram flour (also called ‘BESAN’) and make a paste by including few drops of rose water. Apply on face and neck and let it dry and then wash your face. This remedy is most effective when used in summer season. You can also substitute rose water with milk to form the paste.

Massage With Coconut Oil

Research studies have proved that virgin coconut oil is an excellent moisturizer. Essential fatty acids present in coconut oil nourish the skin, making it soft and radiant.

How to use

Massage slightly hot coconut oil on face and neck gently in circular motions and leave it overnight. Wash your face the next day as usual. Follow this routine for few days and see the difference in your skin.

Exfoliate With Lemon

An excellent source of Vitamin C, lemon is known to remove tan from your skin, even skin tones and open pores. When used with sugar, lemon acts as effective exfoliator that can remove dead cells and nourish the skin.

How to use:

Mix 6 tablespoons of lemon juice with 2 tablespoons of sugar in a bowl. Apply this mixture on face, massaging in circular motions until sugar gets completely dissolved. Wash your face with warm water and pat it dry.

Moisturize With Milk

For ages, milk has been considered as very useful to improve overall skin health. Not only milk has antibacterial properties,  it also contains some skin softening essentials like vitamin C, protein and saturated fat.

How to use

Make a homogeneous paste of 2 teaspoons of milk, 1 teaspoon honey and 1teaspoon of gram flour. Apply the paste on face and neck and let it dry for 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. You can apply this 2 times a week to revitalize your skin.

These remedies can be followed with ingredients that are available most of the times in all households. Regain the lost health and glow of your skin with these and shine naturally, that too without spending any penny.

Apart from these home remedies that can do wonders to your skin, it is also important to follow the basics; eat healthy, sleep well and remain stress free.
